Two weeks from today, on October 8, at this time (7:10 p.m.) I'll probably be on my way home from Mackinaw. Why am I going there? I'm going to give it another try and run the Mackinaw Bridge that morning with my husband. If you remember, I was supposed to run that race Memorial Weekend but a knee injury put me out of the race (and had me walking with a cane..remember that?). At that race, we found out about this race and Bob said maybe I'd like to give it a try and we both agreed with it being Fall and all and with the changing of colors it would probably be beautiful.
Well, I'm still hoping for beautiful and I'm hoping all goes well. I've been working hard getting ready for it, running 5 mile runs at least twice a week for I can't tell you how long. In between those runs, I've been doing other training. Do I think I'm ready? Well, if you would of asked me 3 weeks ago, I probably would of said "no". Why? negative attitude. I kept focusing on "what if I can't do it". Changed that totally around these past 3 weeks and now have the outlook that it's going to be fun, when I finish I finish (and that is my goal...to finish!! ).
It will definintely be something new for me and second time around for Bob. Can I do it? I'm 99% sure I can.
So, on Oct. 8 I'll be in Mackinaw, keep us in your thoughts that day, it would be appreciated. And I am leaning on Bob a bit to push me if I start to weaken. He is good at that and I know if I ask him, he will.
I'm sure after the race, you'll find something from me on this blog to keep you updated if I haven't already called you personally and told you how we did.
On that note, off I go.........
Take care and I'll see you at the meeting!
